I was beginning to fear that I wasn't going to be able to get to Dave's life celebration. The Harley-Davidson 105 birthday party is going on this weekend. I could not find a hotel for 100 miles, but one of Skyes friends have offered me their guest room. People really are wonderful. If you can, think of Skye and send her some peace. She is in a dark place and needs all the prayers she can get. This is a poem that David posted on his blog almost one year ago. I think we all can benifit from it's message.

"Advice from a Tree"

Dear Friend
Stand Tall and Proud
Sink your roots deeply into the Earth
Reflect the light of your true nature
Think long term

Go out on a limb
Remember your place among all living beings
Embrace the joy the changing seasons

For each yields its own abundance
The Energy and Birth of Spring
The Growth and Contentment of Summer
The Wisdom to let go like the leaves in the Fall
The Rest and Quiet renewal of Winter
Feel the wind and the sun
And delight in their presence
Look up at the moon that shines down upon you
And the mystery of the stars at night
Seek nourishment from the good things in life
Simple pleasuresEarth, fresh air, light
Be content with your natural beauty
Drink plenty of water
Let your limbs away and dance in the breezes
Be flexible
Remember your roots
Enjoy the view

Until next time
David

So whats new on the farm

We moved the chickens out of the garage into their new digs. A repurposed camper. I should have pictures very soon. They have an electric fence that is keeping them in but needs some tweeking to keep the goats out lol.
I so cannot wait to park in garage this winter :)
Willow had a birthday party on Saturday complete with a pony ride. Tamra my SIL and her family came up. I don't know if we would have been ready if they hadn't done so much to get ready for the party pictures coming soon
I am hoping to go to Milwaukee this weekend for Dave's celebration of life. Harley is having their 105 birthday. Their is not an hotel to be found for 100 miles of Milwaukee. Skye is checking with friends for a couch.
Tomates are coming along, not many red ones yet. We think a racoon is picking them ,taking a bite and wasting the rest :( We are putting up a fence next year around the garden.
The gourds are growing, I just hope it stays warm for a while yet. They need to get a bit bigger.
Beads Beads and beads lol
I am reading a good book. The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollen. I have just started it, but am finding it very interesting.
Brian and I need to start getting fire wood ready. Winter will be here very soon :( and if we have a winter like last year we are going to need alot of wood cut.

My friend Dave passed away on Monday.
He had battled brain cancer for two years.
Please send out good thoughts to Skye and
their son Alec. Sad does not begin to say
how I feel. He was one of the good ones.

The cement for the windmill has been poured, it has to set for one month before the tower can be put up. It should supply us with about 1/2 of our electricity on an avg day. We finally finished the chicken coop. I will take pictures this weekend. Our garage is going to have cars in it this winter YEAH!!. The barn is next, we are going to put stalls so the goats can move in :). I have been making boro beads this week. Soon my new torch will be hooked up and I can have a set up for soft and hard glass. Willow was 2 last week , we are having her party this Saturday. It is going to be a western theme complete with a pony ride :). Pictures to come.

Our fruit trees have been overflowing with fruit this year. I am a little scared to can anything so I am going to freeze this year. I am so excited that I went out an bought a Seal-a-Meal. I can't wait to begin. Beads are first today but tomorrow I am going to bake bread, make apple sauce and pie filling. Fun Fun Fun :)

This is a great artist I recently heard on PBS. Her name is Adrienne Young and this is a link to her site. I just bought her lastest CD. http://www.adrienneyoung.com/

This is just a quick note to let everyone know that I am at this time NOT teaching any classes or doing any custom orders. I am sorry if there has been any confusion. I hate turning people away but at this time I have just too much going on. I have not been able to update the pages on my site, due to my webmaster being in the final stages of brain cancer. My computer crashed a ways back and I don't have the software for the web page on this computer. I hope to have this updated soon. I hope everyone that has e-mailed me recently will understand. I have tried to list on ETSY but I just can't get it together. Willow is only going to be young once, we are using what free time we have to enjoy the summer. My beads can be purchased at www.vintaj.com

Thanks :)
